MPAA Honoring Ronald Reagan in November

The Motion Picture Association of America plans to recognize the industry contributions of late President Ronald Reagan this November with two events.

MPAA CEO and chairman Senator Chris Dodd, alongside the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, announced the news Tuesday (Oct. 11), citing the lengthy Hollywood career Reagan enjoyed before his time as California governor and two terms as U.S. President.

“President Reagan often remarked that the skills he developed in Hollywood as a negotiator and communicator served him well when he came to Washington,” Dodd said in a release.

“We look forward to exploring those communications gifts during our panel and to then celebrate his contributions to the film and television industry.”

The festivities, scheduled to take place Nov. 14, will include a public panel exploring the connection between Reagan's work as an actor and politician and a private reception including guests from the Reagan administration

Reagan, who starred in such films as The Santa Fey Trail and Knute Rockne: All American, also spent 8 years hosting CBS' General Electric Theater and served as president of the Screen Actors Guild.

That's nice, something for Reagans' 100th B-Day (though it's 9 months late).

As a "gift" the MPAA could ask for stupid cuts/edits on his films.
