Default Exit Donny

Last time we saw Donny, he was getting a marriage certificate to marry Bridgett whom he had met through his ex-wife. His ex-wife was the girl he had married shortly after Daphne broke up with him.

It was season 10, The Ring Cycle, where Donny and fionce Bridgett attended Niles and Daphne's second staged wedding at the justice of the peace. When Daphne announced that she couldn't go through with it (the second wedding for show), Donny jumped in:

Donny: YES! I KNEW IT! [pointing at Niles] Now you know what it's like to have the love of your life dump you at the altar! And good luck trying to find somebody as good, because she just ain't out there!
[He turns around to find Bridgett staring at him in horror.]
Donny: What?
[She rushes out and he hurries after her.]
Donny: No, no. Bridgett, Bridgett! [exits]

And he exits out of our lives for good.

All in all, I'm SO GLAD the way things turned out with N&D, but I wished they would have run into Donny one last time, in an episode further down the road to find Donny married and happy.

I liked Donny. I thought he was so funny in the ep where Niles hired him as his lawyer.

Donny was a funny character for sure but he was all wrong for Daphne. They made such an odd couple & it was hard to imagine her dating him. But yeah it would have been fun to have him return & see how happy they were.

I would have loved to have seen Niles and Daphne run into Donny after having David in Goodnight, Seattle. Niles and Daphne are taking David for a walk and they happen to run into Donny with another woman. They try to avoid him but he spots them and approaches them. They strike a conversation with him and he sees baby David in his stroller and he realizes that Niles and Daphne did get married and he is looking at them with their child. I would have loved that! I wanted to see what Donny's reaction would have been seeing Niles and Daphne happy with baby David.

I see what you mean... Donny was funny in that first episode, although kind of gross too. I really have to agree with Niles every time when he says "what is she DOING with him?!" He was a nice guy when he was with Daphne, and while a rather odd couple as someone said, he did seem to care for her and treat her well. He was not so nice though after he was hurt by her and wanted to sue her, and I always thought that was a pretty good sign of some true colors that we (or Daphne) hadn't seen before. Granted he was really hurt, and at least he dropped the suit, but still, that was an ugly side of him. I wouldn't have minded seeing him happy later on, but I'm kind of glad they spared him from seeing Niles and Daphne together anymore-- while I'm sure he eventually got over her, he didn't really deserve to have it rubbed in his face. Plus it really made Daphne uncomfortable, seeing him and being reminded of the whole incident.

One other interesting note-- and I'm sure it's more of a situation of comedy than anything else, but we can make it whatever we want-- if you think about it, last he saw Niles and Daphne, he thought they weren't together anymore. Remember, he didn't stay to hear them say that they were already married, he thought she left him at the altar-- yet he didn't come back for her then or in the future at all. I like to think that means he did get over her and found happiness with the right person.

It would've been nice to have seen Donny again and happy this time. I think Daphne jilting him did kind of make him depressed and stuff, so he probably wanted to find someone that had her same qualities. It was weird at first to see Daphne and Donny dating, but he kind of mellowed some because of her. But I'm super glad everything worked out for N/D the way they did.

Donny always repulsed me. He was just so crass and vulgar but then again, so were Daphne's brothers! LOL! Maybe she was used to that sort of behavior so that's why she was comfortable with him.

Anyway, they didn't go together at all. She was too pretty and refined for him. Maybe he and Mel should've ended up together! Yeah...as if. He was too smart for Mel and she wouldn't have been able to manipulate him.

I have to admit that I didn't hate Donny and I thought he treated Daphne well-unlike Maris or Mel who were just horrible to poor Niles. But of course I LOVE that Daphne and Niles ended up together.

It would have been nice for them to show Donny one more time because Daphne was pretty upset after she left him at the wedding. That's so like her and Niles to worry about their ex's. I felt for Donny a lot more than I did for Mel because like I said, he was kind to her (well until he decided to sue her). But even when they ran into him in that restaurant and it was the first time he'd seen Daphne and Niles as a couple (in public), he still made an effort to come and say hello to them.

I think seeing Donny again, married and happy, would have been good for everyone; Niles, Daphne and Donny.

Actually, this is what I would have loved to have happen with Mel. While I wouldn't want to have them strike up a conversation with her, I would have loved to have her see them happy together and with David. Maybe she sees them sitting close together on a city bench with the stroller next to them, holding hands and looking very happy or something. Granted she was hurt, but still, she was just mean and called Daphne a lot of names that seemed like she thought it was just an affair between those two. Out of all three of the exes, she was the only one who didn't know firsthand that they stayed together after Daphne and Donny's wedding day. I guess she probably heard through the grapevine (Jaime the squash valet? ) and she probably saw it in the paper after Maris's murder trial, but still...
Then again maybe some things are better left alone.

What the heck is a squash valet, anyway? And why do they need one when they're playing squash??

Hmm.. Not a clue but I'm thinking that not many people could afford one, besides Frasier and Niles. Knowing Frasier and Niles (unfortunately not in person! ), I bet they wouldn't play squash without one!

A valet is someone who goes to get your car.
Is a squash valet someone who gets your squash ball when it bounces out of an open court???

A squash court is closed in by 4 walls like a racquetball court though, isn't it? But a valet is also a person (usually male) who takes care of another man's personal needs, like clothes or errands and stuff-- sort of like Ferguson the butler. Hotels have them. But why would they need one to play squash? Are they getting their clothes cleaned and pressed while they're playing or something? Some fancy restaurants have valets in the restrooms too... where they hand you a real towel after you wash your hands... Maybe it's something like that?

I wouldn't put it past Frasier and Niles to hire someone to do that for them!

I think they just feel that they need one because they are Frasier and Niles. This makes me think of "Door Jam" where they did everything they could to get into that exclusive club only to find that they weren't able to get into the Gold Level and they kept going to higher and higher levels. The end of that was hilarious! I don't want to give anything away but here's a small picture from that scene! Definitely worth watching!
