I don't get MeTV on Comcast and I'm getting impatient, but I would like to get it through the air waves. Could someone please explain to me how I have to do it? I'm sorry if this was discussed before but I don't understand how to do it. For starters, I currently have one TV in the house that is NOT hooked up to Comcast cable. On the TV it is marked "Dolby Digital" and also it is marked "dts digital out", whatever that means, but I thought I would mention that.
What exactly do I need to do to try to get MeTV on this television? I'm not sure how old it is/what year it was purchased, but it can't be very old since it has a built in dvd player. I already tried to re-scan it after changing the setting from cable to TV and I put in an old cheapo antenna (not rabbit ears) that I had laying around. It didn't do anything. I just have snow. This is about the extent of my knowledge on the subject. Can someone who is very patient try to help me with this? If so, please type slowly and use small words This isn't my area of expertise and I don't really feel like running back and forth to Radio Shack only to be disappointed and more frustrated thanks in advance

Are you getting MeTV in your area ? Keep adjusting your antenna and re-scanning your digital channels.

Thanks for responding. Yes, I believe it's in my area, just that Comcast hasn't picked it up. I tried moving the antenna around but like I said it's not rabbit ears, just a single skinny antenna, and I think it came with a different older tv I had quite a long time ago. So, what I'm hearing is that maybe I just need a good quality antenna? I don't need any converters, etc that I've been reading about?

Are you getting any channels at all with that tv and antenna ? If not, you might need to get a converter box.

There are many types of converter boxes,I have a little RCA box that I use.
It's one of the cheapest. Your antenna should be fine, depending how far away you are getting MeTV signal. |

I'm no expert but I agree with tiredmike59. If you have a regular(not HDTV) tv that is a few years old you probably need a converter box.And by the way if you still have a regular tv,the types of tv shows Me-tv shows,or in other words the good stuff will look just as good or even better on a regular television. HDTVs are SO over-rated.

The date the tv was manufactured should be on the back. Your best bet would probably be to get an amplified antenna depending on how far away your are from ME-TV's transmitters. You can get a good one at Big Lots for $10 and I've pulled in stations up to 75 miles away with mine.

Just checked the back of tv, says 2004. Btw, I'm still confused about what I need to do just so I can watch MeTV. I do appreciate the input.
Antenna? Converter? Or both? Sorry.....

You definately need the converter box. If you still can't get MeTV, you should get one of those antennas that Zoneboy is referring to.

Living in CT. I would like ME-TV too. The thing is when your talking about converters, antennas etc. I checked on the ME-TV and its not available in CT. Are you saying you can still get it via antenna? If thats true, what other channels can you get via antenna?

Check out the MeTV website to find the closest they are transmitting from.
Zoneboy said he can pull in some stations 75 miles away with his antenna. |

All you need is an Antenna and a Digital Converter box the newer tv's come with built in converter but a 2004 one most likely doesnt have one built in. As for the Antenna I tried them all I spent as much as a $100 on a nice one with an amplifier and it didnt work very well. I went back and spent $10 on rabbit ears and it works great and I am over 50 miles from the tower.
