This IS the place to engage in speculative thinking, I do it all the time. That's the fun of these boards, at least some of it.

To answer the question, I think James would have been against it like Archie was against adopting Stephanie. He'd have been gruff and grumbly, talking about how expensive it would be, etc. But in the end, like Archie, he would have had his heart melted and given in.

If James hadn't been killed off, maybe Penny wouldn't have existed and that would have been fine with me! Penny was useless, IMO.
