Exclamation NBC Cancels 'The Playboy Club'

Shortly after the pick-up news was announced, TVLine learned that on the flip side of things, NBC has cancelled The Playboy Club.

I didn't get into it, but this show wasn't doing too good since the beginning, especially with all of the controversy before it even aired.

I'm not too surprised, either. I caught the last few minutes of last night's episode after I flipped the channels after the 10 PM news and it didn't look like anything special - just another Mad Men ripoff.

Cool

I've read that this show was full of historical inaccuracies. Obviously the writers didn't do their homework and they're paying a big price for it!

I heard it was a Mad Men-wannabe, all the way down to Eddie Cibrian's character being an obvious Don Draper clone.

I did not watch it because I have zero interest in that show or any new show for that matter. However I don't understand why there was so much controversy considering alot of the stuff they show on tv nowadays is much worse ie: some other tv shows, reality garbage, stupid lowest common denominator bottom of the barrel talk shows etc. .So they may have shown a few women in Bunny Suits,I don't see the big deal.

That would be an accurate discription - and IMHO, Eddie Cibrian can't hold a candle to Jon Hamm in the acting department. Well, he was OK in Third Watch, but that was an ensemble show. He just doesn't seem to have what it takes to carry a dramatic series.

Majority of the people protesting didn't even see the show. Many of the cast did sign nudity clauses since nudity and some sexual conduct *may* have been required upon taking the job.

I think people simply saw the PLAYBOY name and went for no real reason.

i would like to congratulate NBC and The Playboy Club on their achievement of being the first new show of the season to be canceled!!! The combination of poor writing, poor casting, historical inaccuracies, lackluster production, the overall unlike-ability of Eddie Cibrian and the fact that it is a cheap rip-off of Mad Men made this one an obvious choice!!

Hmm, I still marvel at nudity on primetime network television. They butcher theatrical films all the time for nudity, and yet they occasionally allow their own now. Just weird.

He was also good in "Invasion" an underrated series about aliens (kind of) from 2005.
