That's the one where Wally originally does not invite Beaver to his party, and Beaver, with Gilbert's advice gets a bunch of jokes/gags to play on the guests. After Wally invites Beaver, Beaver is unable get rid of the gags. The guests get upset and Beaver feels guilty, confessing to Wally and everyone that he did it.
Watch the "apology scene" with Beaver's "handshake" with Wally at the end! I'll bet any money the little "surprise" was NOT in the script! Followed by a all too brief happy pillow "fight!" As a side-note, Jerry loved magic tricks and gags, and from time to time, he would go around the set doing them for Barbara, Hugh, Tony, and the producers! This is just one of several examples of Jerry's timing in scenes. PURE GOLD! Jack |

This episode also has two "cuts" in it in re-runs that wish were left in.
While the party is taking place in the house, Ward and June have agreed to remain upstairs and they are seen watching TV there on a portable set. June thinks she hears a scream and suggests they check. Ward, in his usual sly response, remarks, "I thought it was Dorothy Lamour when she saw those crocodiles" (in reference to the 1930's era jungle movie they apparently are watching on TV). At June's insistence, they walk onto the landing of the second floor to listen closer. Where upon, Ward states, "I feel like a U-2 pilot" (referring to the high-altitude reconnaissance plane of that time - not the later rock group). While the two remarks might seem dated - back to the 1930's and then to the early 1960's - some of the lines in the later years of the series refer to personalities of the early 1960's. I'd really like to have a copy of this episode uncut. |
