Greg Nicotero on "The Walking Dead" Webisodes

The new web series will not only provide a back story for the fan favorite zombie known as "Bicycle Girl", but it will also show the beginnings of the zombie apocalypse, according to "The Walking Dead's" co-executive producer Greg Nicotero.

"A fun thing about our show is that it jumps the timeline every once in a while to flash you back," says the director of the six-episode online series.

"We took that same idea [for the webisodes] to go to the start of the outbreak. Because in the first season, Rick gets shot and when he wakes up, it's all happened already, so there's a whole story there about when it happens — how it happens — in society, and I played up that aspect."


Nicotero calls the shoot, with actors Lilli Birdsell and Rex Linn, "a marathon of craziness. We shot 20 pages of stuff in two days!"





All six episodes of the series will be available on http://www.amctv.com/ beginning Monday, October 3, at 2/1c.
