Black Eyed Peas Play Hits-Filled Central Park Show, Raise $4 Million for Charity
Posted on Oct 1st 2011 by Kenneth Partridge We've got a feeling that Friday night (Sept. 30) was a good, good night for the Robin Hood Foundation, a nonprofit poverty-relief organization in New York City. Thanks to the Black Eyed Peas, who performed for 60,000 fans on Central Park's Great Lawn, making up a date they were forced to cancel in June, the agency brought in a reported $4 million. The original June gig was scrapped due to thunderstorms, and although it rained throughout Friday's show, the Peas braved the elements and played through such hits as 'My Humps,' 'Where Is the Love?' and, of course, 'I Gotta Feeling.' "The rain stopped us last time but it ain't gonna stop us this time," said frontman will.i.am. "This is a dream," added singer Fergie. "There's not many artists who have played Central Park." http://blog.music.aol.com/2011/10/01...harity%20show/ |
