Confused Why Did Fred Hate Julio & Rollo So Much on 'Sanford & Son?'

I could never figure out what Fred's major problem was with Lamont's friends???

A couple of things come to mind. First, Rollo was admittedly, a bit shiftless and had quite an open mind when it came to, shall we say, the legality of things, so I think that Fred thought Lamont might be badly influenced by him. Secondly, Lamont's interaction with Rollo might bring him into contact with single ladies who might prompt Lamont to marry them and leave Fred (Lamont was ironically, just as concerned about Fred marrying and leaving him alone, too, and actually schemed to prevent this...terrible).

That is just plain creepy.

What about Julio though? Was it just a simple case of racism?

I think Fred did, unfortunately, assume that because Julio was Puerto Rican, he was predisposed to being involved in illegal activities, yeah. But he was probably kind of jealous of Julio, too, just as he was with Rollo.

Cool

I think what it comes down to is that the more time Lamont spent with Rollo and Julio the less he spent with Fred. And as has already been mentioned Fred had a fear of being left alone.

I think it was a combination of what everyone here has already said. Fred was afraid they'd be a bad influence on Lamont and he was jealous of them. Being prejudiced of Puerto Rican's was just a cope-out--Fred was probably just jealous of Julio, so he made fun of everything about him.
