The Movie Popeye from 1980 was cheesy and stupid Which Shows you That Hollywood screws up on everything they messed it up big time although Robin Williams was a great cast but was stupid in the cartoon he liked spinish but in the movie he hated it, i pray that HollyWood would not try to remake it how domb was the movie

It's okay...but it should've been animated.
It's like making the movie "Yogi Bear" by having Yogi all CGI and stuff. |

I liked it. There are far far far worse cartoon characters turned live-action movies out there. I thought all the actors were perfectly cast- Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl, Paul Smith as Bluto.

Mistake No. 1: Making it a musical; Harry Nillson's songs were awful.
Mistake No. 2: The mechanical horse race was just plain dumb. Aside from that, the casting was perfect and the kidnapping of Swee' Pea made an interesting plot. It was fun seeing Ray Walston as Poopdeck Pappy--and ironic when you consider that, on TV, both Walston and Williams played aliens from outer space! (They even shared the same initials!) |
