It depends on the load of clothes but do you really need to know everybody replies? Is it that important to you? What a weird question to ask

To answer Jenny's question, I use about 1/2 a cup. I've read that the recommendations on the boxes are overstated in order to make us all buy more detergent.

I usually just use whatever amount it says to use. Usually I just fill up the lid, and pour it in. I prefer unscented laundry detergent.

I think I use too much. The cups seem so little, so I'll throw in a second cup. My new washer has a HUGE washer basket, so I'm washing more clothes.

There are no weird questions is correct. It's rude to say that. Gah if you don't like the thread go elsewhere and make your own thread, just sayin. (edited: oops i see he was banned. Good!)
I use half as much as stated on the box b/c the washer i use is a water saver and you are supposed to use less soap in those. So 1/2 cup in most cases. I like this question BTW. ![]() PS Did you guys know you can make your own laundry soap for pennies to the wash? Yeah, search it out on the internet, (there's a good video about it), usually the recipes you find are for 10 gallons but the people i know who have made that much think it's really too much, so you might want to adjust your recipe to make a couple of gallons or something. When i get around to this project i'm going to make 3 gallons and give some away. |

How much detergent do you use?
A friend of mine Keisha told me that she uses 3 Gain cubes and a Gain booster in the washer. She said she also uses two dryer sheets in the dryer. I would think that would make the clothes smell too strong. I would also wonder if all the detergent gets ouf of the clothes by using so much. |

Most of the time it's a 1/2 cup depends on the size of the load.

I use 1/2 a cup on regular loads, on my husband & sons work clothes I use a cup. Plus sometimes I have to pre-soak the clothes they wear while riding the atv's. My husband's half-sister lives with us & she helps out with the laundry.

i'm highly allergic so I have to get the perfume-free, dye-free, sensitive-skin, hypo-allergenic stuff and then use only half a cup at that.

I go up to the line. I used to use tons, but my skin has become so sensitive over the last year, that now I just use it as directed, or less sometimes. Same with liquid fabric softener.

I use one pod or one cup per-load regardless of size and I also use one scoop of Oxi in each one as well. The name-brand Oxi-Clean is about $9.00 depending on where you buy it. The Big Lots version is only $3.99 and works just as good. Throwing 2 dryer sheets into a load is also a waste of money, I take a box of 100 sheets and cut them in halves. One half of a dryer sheet added to any size load will work just as well as a full-sized one.

I use 1/2 cup. I did try making my own detergent. I did use a 5 gallon bucket. I followed the recipe, but I felt it just didn't get my clothes clean. If there was dirt or some mark it was still there after the wash. I decided to use the remaining soap. It does save you money, but the recipe I used didn't clean.
