Thumbs down 'Charlie's Angels' Need A Prayer to Stay Alive Right Now

Charlie's Angels suffered a ratings decline on Thursday night, early viewing figures indicate.

Starring Minka Kelly and Annie Ilonzeh, the episode 'Runway Angels' averaged 7.2m (1.5) for ABC, down 1.5m and 25% in the demos week-on-week.

The Vampire Diaries was a whisker away from outperforming the revived action drama, climbing to an audience of 2.7m (1.3). The Secret Circle had a solid 2.1m (0.9) at 9pm.

LOL

Do you think that's what the problem is/was for this reboot?

I think it's part of the problem. It seems like this show wants to distance itself from the classic CA. The only thing it has in common with the former is the unseen boss. I think they thought all they had to have was the name and hire some hot actors and that would be enough. They even made Bosley a hunk. lol It takes more than good looks to make a tv show. The original had that but the show was also fun to watch. You really cared about the characters. I think that's one reason the reboot of Hawaii Five-O has been successful.

Interesting, I really think they should've made this a continuation series and not so much a complete reboot. If they made acknowledgments to the late John Forsythe and others, this might have been more watchable...

Episode 2 was certainly fun to watch. Watch that one (don't just base it on the pilot set-up). It was old school style (with new technology), so I guess that is why it skews old (total viewers wise, it is doing OK). There have been homages to the old series already (like 1976 is the street address). I'm sure "Angels in Chains" will drop a homage or two to the original episode. There's only 2 episodes that have aired so far, so there could be more...

Pav, I really have no problem with Charlie's Angels getting a sort of "facelift" into the 21st Century. What I really would've liked though was this to be more a continuation than a redo.

I guess what I mean by that, is talk about previous characters like Jill Munroe, Bosley (David Doyle) etc... as existing in the years gone by. For example, if say Kate Jackson guest stars or does a cameo, it would've been really cool if she still played Sabrina Duncan.

Like i said, i don't care about the ratings being low because i'm still gonna watch it. I like the first 2 episodes. I hope the show stays on for awhile and doesn't get cancelled because i'll be mad if it gets cancelled.

I never even knew there was a reboot almost a decade ago! I bet it bombed because of political correctness. NO or maybe only 1 white Angel allowed!
