Smile Daphne's clothes throughout the years

I was just going through some of the episodes on my DVR and I noticed something. In the early seasons, Daphne pretty much wore loose clothing like baggy shirts and big sweaters and she would wear cutesy dresses with hose and dress shoes. She would wear flats and not high heels. In later seasons she wore high heels more often, which made her even taller than she was. Why do you think her nickname was "Stilts?" Usually she would wear stretch pants but hardly ever jeans. In the later seasons she started wearing more form fitting clothes like the dress she wore in Moon Dance. She was wearing shorter skirts and smaller shirts. She even started wearing jeans more often. More so after she got together with Niles. I loved some of the shirt jeans combinations she wore. They were really cute. I love the outfit she wore in Don Juan in Hell after they got back from Belize. She was wearing tan jeans with a shirt and an ankle long sweater that matched. I thought it was really cute.
I loved the dress she wore when Niles got his tie stuck in the zipper.
I loved the dress she wore in Something Borrowed, Someone Blue.
Her clothing style really changed after she came back from the whole gaining weight storyline. The outfit she wore in Daphne Returns was adorable. I loved the shirt!
I am wondering why she decided to change the way she dressed in later seasons? My guess is when she first came on the show she hadn't been in America very long and she dressed the way she dressed when she lived in England and as she spend more time in America she started dressing more like an American. No more of the cutesy dresses and baggy clothes. I really loved the way her style of clothing changed. The same way her personality changed. They both just kind of transitioned together.
I mean Jane had a dancer's body, she was really tall and thin. I don't think she had an ounce of fat on her body and she looked good in clothes that allowed her to show that off. I have just always found Jane extremely beautiful and her clothes on Frasier just got better as time went on.

I agree with all of this and her clothes did get cuter as the seasons went on. I want to say that maybe she started dressing better because she knew Niles was in love with her and maybe wanted to start dressing better to make him happy (although if he fell in love with her at first sight when she was wearing baggy clothes, he probably wouldn't have cared!) ). I did love the flowery dresses she used to wear. Reminded me a little of Elaine on Seinfeld. When the series first started she would wear these really cute flowery dresses but with white bobby socks and Botticelli shoes.

Jane really is beautiful and looks amazing in anything, IMO. But I think the real reason she started dressing better is probably because of her confidence. She had to have known at least a little that Niles had taken an interest in her and there were all those men she dated (and she was even engaged), so as the years went by she had relaxed quite a bit. I have to admit that since blue is my favorite color, I loved the dress she wore to her rehearsal dinner in Something Borrowed Someone Blue (aka the infamously melt-worthy balcony scene); especially since that shade of blue is the shade I love the most!

I'd mention her hairstyles through the years, but I think I'll save that for another thread!

BTW, this is a picture of Elaine from the early seasons of Seinfeld....

Here are some examples of what Daphne wore in season one and some of season two.
