Tic Tac Dough

Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

21

You Don't Say! (especially the 1960s version)

Name that Tune

Face the Music (this show did this better than NTT, b/c of the extra puzzle element)

Sale of the Century

1 vs. 100 - unlike DoND, you actually have to think here.

Chain Reaction

Lingo

Now You See It

Concentration (especially the Hugh Downs/Bob Clayton years! Those puzzles were really tough!)

The various Pyramids ($10K, $20K, $25K, $50K, $100K and Pyramid 2002)

Trivia Trap

Win, Lose or Draw

I prefer game shows that require a brain. I like to play along, and most game shows where the play-at-home angle isn't there or isn't great just don't hold my interest (there are some exceptions - I adore Let's Make A Deal - the Monty Hall years), so stuff like Supermarket Sweep, Double Dare, and Press Your Luck, where the trivia or general game play is fairly simple and the main action of the game is passive - generally watching contestants do stuff - just doesn't do it for me.

My list would be:
What's My Line? (I close my eyes until they start asking questions)
Jeopardy!
Rock And Roll Jeopardy (I LOVED that show and miss it - I could clear boards on that one)
Debt
Win Ben Stein's Money
Now You See It (needed to have good recall)
Concentration/Classic Concentration
Hit Man (another one where you had to have good recall)
Remote Control
And others I'm sure I'm forgetting

My least favorite shows are the ones where you have to anticipate what other people have said, like Family Feud, The Newlywed Game (which was fun for a bit, but got old eventually), Tattletales, and anything else where the question stars with "According to a survey/poll.....". I liked Card Sharks, but it relied a little too heavily on that aspect, and I'm definitely not a fan of the Bob Eubanks years (he was a real ass - didn't realize how much until I watched repeats as an adult).

One of my least favorite game shows was Hot Potato. I'm not a big fan of Bill Cullen, to start with. Someone I used to stay with in the summer before activities when I was younger (my mom worked and was unable to take me) liked that show, and all these years later I recall a team that had been on for days, and in one fell swoop, lost because the question was "According to (some organization I can't remember), what would you NOT be able to do if you are blind?". The possibilities are almost endless, and the answers were just out of left field (one was Thread A Needle - valid, but wouldn't be among the first answers that popped in to my head), and the contestants gave good solid answers that just weren't on the list (I think Drive A Car was one). So because of that, and bad game play rules in general, the other team won (they kept passing back to the other side), and lost the very next round.
