I recently saw the Episode 181 - Dear Uncle Abdul. Season 8. In this episode Hawkeye and BJ irritate the camp with their telling of a joke.
Hawkeye, asks the question. “Who cares about lilt? Does Red Skelton have lilt? Does Jackie Gleason have lilt?” How does Hawkeye know about them? Granted Red Skelton was on radio, but he meant on their TV shows. How did Hawk even know about TV, as the TV freeze was on, and there was obviously no TV in Korea at that time? I guess they could have seen Kinnies, but they were new at the time as well. Also in another episode Dr. Freed makes a reference to “I love Lucy”, again, how would he know of it, in Korea?

Hawkeye may not of been referring to Jackie's and Red's TV shows. It's very possible that Hawkeye was familiar with these comedians from their work on Radio or their appearances in movies. Also newspapers and magazines from back home often arrived in the mail so he could have read about these TV shows as well.

Exactly what Marvo said, he could have read about it. You also have to remember though, this show wasn't exactly the greatest with sticking to the time period that they were supposed to be portraying.
