Last night I was watching Frasier on Hallmark as I always do, and wouldn't you know it, they skipped an entire episode! Wednesday ended with The Three Faces of Frasier and Thursday began with Something Borrowed, Someone Blue. They completely forgot The Dark Side of the Moon! One of my favorite episodes and they didn't even air it! It just makes me mad that they would skip an entire episode. I am trying to watch them in order and when they don't even air an episode, it just throws everything off, it's so stupid!
I will probably just start watching the show on WETv until I get the series on DVD. I can't wait to get it on DVD. There is so much that is edited out of each episode and you miss some really good scenes because of it. It just makes me mad! Why would they skip and entire episode for no reason? Sorry, I am just really angered by it and can't figure out why they would do something like that. Okay, I'm done.

The bonus features. I think only season 1 and season 3 have bonus features, but they are cool. I wish they would have the bloopers special they did after the 200th show hosted by Bob Costa (you can find in on youtube). And I LOVE that I can watch Frasier on my terms. If someone is talking during a funny line, if I have to answer the phone, etc. I can always go back. Nothing is better than a cup of joe, a biscotti, a comfortable chair, and an episode of Frasier!!!

This is kind of off-topic but whenever I would watch "Full House" syndicated episodes on ANY station they would ALWAYS skip the Thanksgiving one! I never could figure it out, but I'm surprised that Hallmark woudl deliberately skip such a pivotal episode like "Dark Side of the Moon".

The older, syndicated shows shown on some networks are acquired programs, meaning they are owned by a distributor who licenses them for a limited amount of time to be shown by the network. When that show's license expires, then the network can't show that program anymore. Sometimes license agreements for a show restrict the number of times they are allowed to air a show, or restrict airing certain episodes...usually first, last, multi-part, or holiday episodes. This is why networks often skip holiday episodes in the regular line-up...so they can show them at the appropriate time of year. Occasionally a distributor will even hold back an episode, although they say that's rare. Unfortunately, it has very little to do with what the viewer wants or the content of episodes, or how pivotal an episode is to the series, other than to possibly put some restrictions on an episode for content reasons. So, what we see on Hallmark or any network with these older, syndicated shows is usually a result of the license agreement made with the distributor, not the network itself making airing decisions. |
