Angry 'Taxi's' Jeff Conaway Left Out Of The Emmys "In Memoriam" Segment

It seems to happen every year at every awards ceremony: A notable star or Hollywood industry member who recently passed away is left out of the “In Memoriam” segment. This year’s Emmys was no exception, as many were stunned to see that Jeff Conaway, who was best known for his work on the small screen in shows like Taxi, Babylon 5, The Bold and the Beautiful, and, sadly, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, was omitted from the montage that paid tribute to those who died in the past year.

Conaway, who passed away on May 27 at the age of 60 due to complications from pneumonia, was among some of the surprising names to be left out of the Emmy “In Memoriam.”

After the huge success of Grease I am sure Jeff Conaway was the reason most of the people initially tuned into Taxi.

He might have been a piece of the puzzle, but overall he wasn't made the star.

I can't believe they left out Jeff Conaway, What a freakin' joke! The segment last nearly 5:20 and over 2:30 was focused on the intro and the Canadian Tenors. A few others they didn't have time for:

David Nelson
Peggy Rea
Chris Mayer
Marian Mercer
Jackie Cooper
Barbara Stuart
John Crawford
Joe Mantell
Simon MacCorkindale
Charlie Callas
Bruce Gordon
Paul Picerni
Peter Hobbs
Patricia Smith
Kenneth Mars
Claudia Bryar
Edson Stroll
William Campbell
Don Diamond
G.D. Spradlin
Bob Fraser

I realize that time probably wouldn't allow for all the names I've mentioned and this is only the actors and actresses but for some, there was absolutely no excuse for them to be omitted.

My favorite Taxi episode is where Jeff Conaway goes back to Louie's high school reunion as Louie. I havent seen Taxi in over 30 years so my memory might be foggy. I remember the fat girl episode and when she became skinny episode.

Why are you all even suprised? He is left out of the emmys because of his drug use, it causes a bad reputation for the emmys if they show him in memory

Just play a song in the background to pictures or clips of the deceased. They didn't need to keep showing the singers sing. They're still alive. They're not what that segment was about. Also, they were laughable to me.

I had no problem with the singers or the song but like I said previously, they spent over 2:30 focusing on the intro and them. A lot of well-deserving people could've been honored in that amount of time. I also said last year that some simple background music would suffice. Also, 1:22 elapsed before the first person (Cliff Robertson) was honored.
