Eek AWWWKWARD! Charlie Sheen to Make A Surprise Appearance At The Emmys On Sunday

He may have not submitted himself for an Emmy nomination this year, but it seems Charlie Sheen will still be going to the Primetime Emmy Awards. Deadline has learned that the former Two and a Half Men star is expected to make a surprise appearance at the ceremony tomorrow night. The pre-Emmy parties have been buzzing about a potential Emmy presenter stint for Sheen, whom the producers for this year’s ceremony identified early on as a dream get. The Emmy Awards air a day before the premiere of The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen, and the actor has been doing a major PR blitz for the event over the past week, including appearances on The Tonight Show, The Wendy Williams Show and the Today show. Additionally, Sheen has a new sitcom, Anger Management, which should be taken out to buyers soon.

Cool

Imagine if Charlie Sheen ended up presenting an award to Chuck Lorre! Now THAT would be "must see TV"!!

Exclamation Producers Under Pressure To Cut Charlie Sheen From Emmys From Chuck Lorre

I hear that there has been some pressure put on the TV Academy and the producers of tonight’s Primetime Emmy Awards telecast not to have former Two And A Half Men star Charlie Sheen as a presenter. Here is what I’ve learned has happened. Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre, who was the subjects of many of Sheen’s public insults last spring and is currently being sued by the actor over his termination from the show, confronted TV Academy’s chairman John Shaffner, who is the production designer of 2 of Lorre’s comedy series, Two And A Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. I hear that Lorre demanded that Sheen’s planned appearance be cut from the broadcast. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Television Group president Bruce Rosenblum, who oversees the studio producing Men, Warner Bros. TV, which also is being sued by Sheen, made a call to Fox chairman Peter Rice asking whether it would be possible for Sheen to be dropped. After Rice couldn’t commit to doing so, Rosenblum asked him to at least not give Sheen an open mike which the actor may use to embarrass Lorre or the other Emmy nominees from his shows, all produced by WBTV. Making things even more sensitive is the fact that I’ve learned Sheen has been eyed to present the best actor in a comedy series category, which features two nominees from a Lorre series, Big Bang‘s Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki. Ironically, this is the category Sheen was eligible for but opted not to submit himself this year. As of now, I hear that the Emmy producers are sticking to their plan to go with the Sheen appearance but the final decision may come down to the last minutes before show time. He may not be in the clip packages included in the broadcast though, as I hear that at the last minute WBTV asked that Sheen be cut from any Men footage used on the show. Lorre is slated to attend the Emmys as he is nominated for Big Bang, which is in the running for best comedy series.

Thought Charlie Sheen Presents Emmy—What Did He Say About Two and a Half Men?

Charlie Sheen came, he saw, and he took the high road.

And that was about it. No jokes, no asides, no nothing but earnest (on the surface, anyway) words of support for his former Two and a Half Men colleagues—many of whom, including Jon Cryer and cocreator Chuck Lorre, were in the audience tonight.

So, what did Sheen have to say before presenting the Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy to Jim Parsons, who, ironically, stars on the Lorre-created Big Bang Theory?

"Thank you, good evening," Sheen said, pausing to take in the applause (which may have seemed bigger because he paused.)

"Thank you," he continued. "Before I present Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, my old category, I want to take a moment to get something fof my chest and say a few words to verybody here from Two and a Half Men. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together and I know you will continue to make great television. Now, on to the Emmy."

And that, friends, is how you cover your butt and start paving the way for your return to network TV.

Ehh.

I don't know, somehow a couple sentences that were obviously well crafted and thought out for best career advantage don't seem to quite wash away all the insane venting and lashing out of the past year. I guess that's the world we live in now...anybody is instantly rehabilitated by the smallest gesture of contrition.

Whatever, back to the (real) show...

Oh I agree with you Retro, he was out of control and Hollywood won't forget that. He is going to find that out when he shops his new sitcom to networks.
