Could A Scripted 'M*A*S*H' Reunion Work Today? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

AfterMash left an after taste in the mouth and Trapper John M.D. was really a different show than M*A*S*H despite a characters name being used. The Radar spin-off fizzled, so I ask, could a SCRIPTED reunion work today or has the ship passed in the night?

Better yet, how bout a new MASH movie. I would love to see that.

I doubt it would work.

As with most shows, I wouldn't care at all about new people in the old roles, and many of the classic stars have either passed away (Linville), retired from acting (Rogers), aren't physically able (Morgan), etc. I suppose you could have Hawkeye and B.J. and Margaret, etc. talking about their war days, but it couldn't be set TODAY because all the characters would be in their 90's while the actors playing them are actually in their 60s/70s.

Nah, I think the 2001 Fox reunion special is about as good as you can get, sad to say.

I think too much time has passed since the original series for a reunion to be feasable. There is a whole generation of people who are only aware of this show through reruns if at all. And as Retro4Life said the actors are getting long in the tooth and their characters even longer in the tooth.
