Exclamation Matthew Fox Won't Face Criminal Charges In Bus Altercation

http://www.people.com/people/article...529302,00.html

Authorities have decided not to file charges against Matthew Fox in his alleged fight with a Cleveland bus driver in August, PEOPLE confirms.

"After a review of the facts, [officials] came to the conclusion not to charge," a rep for the local Cleveland Prosecutor's Office told TMZ.

Fox, 45, who allegedly attacked Heather Bormann, 29, when she refused him entry on a private party bus she was driving, was in town filming I, Alex Cross.

Bormann claimed the actor started "swinging" at her when she told him, "Sorry buddy, this is a private party. You have to get off my vehicle."

Although criminal charges are not being filed, Bormann is suing Fox for assault, battery and infliction of emotional distress, according to court documents filed Tuesday.

The papers allege Fox delivered "sudden and severe blows to [Bormann's] right breast, groin, arm and legs, inflicting severe, disabling injury and pain."

Cool

When he has to defend himself against this lawsuit I'm sure Matthew Fox will claim he was "Lost"! He will claim he can't afford to pay damages because he has a "Party of Five" to take care of!

Ehh, I'm glad there wasn't enough evidence. I've always liked Fox, and hated to think he would be capable of something like this. He still has the civil suit to go through, and of course, any abuse of a woman anywhere is totally wrong, but the whole time I've been hoping it was exaggerated and/or a ploy for money or publicity.

We'll see how it all plays out, I guess.

^Yeah, something obviously happened and the sad truth is we may never know the real truth. Fox isn't saying anything, and my guess is that there will be a lot of 'behind the scenes' wrangling that we'll never know about.

Whatever happens, it's likely to hurt his career. A lot. This isn't something that people forget or that you can just 'bounce back' from. And depending upon what really happened, maybe he shouldn't.

This "incident" has barely been mentioned in the "mainstream" press. Maybe it's gotten coverage in Cleveland, and there have been many tweets about it, but I haven't seen one entertainment show even mention this alleged incident, other than TMZ, who had the alleged "victim" on their show once. Only a couple of national magazines made mention of possible charges. The September 19 issue of People has a couple of lines about it, and a picture of Fox.

I don't see this hurting his career, because he will not be charged, and because the woman who made the allegations looks like she's going for a money grab now, the same way it looked like she was hungry for media attention when the story first broke.

If there is another incident, then that might mean trouble for Fox and his career, but I think that Fox and his people handled it well by not commenting at all.

^ Well, I live in Northeast Ohio, so the story has gotten quite a bit of press here. Outside of this area, I have no idea how much coverage it has gotten.
