Wow! I was thinking about that picture when I saw the reunion of Bea Arthur and Esther Rolle. So nostalgic! I wish Rue McClanahan was in it.

If I remember correctly, Esther Rolle passed away just days after this picture was taken. She died 11-17-98. It's bittersweet that she's in it.

LaWanda Page is the only one representing Sanford & Son. Redd Foxx died in 1991. Too bad Demond Wilson isn't there.

I also wish Carroll O'Conner, John Amos, Ja'net Dubois, Marla Gibbs, and Mike Evans were pictured.

But they sure pulled a lot of them together. My favorite pic of the 3!!

They sure did pull a lot of people together. I think that was awesome. How in the world did I miss this 12 years ago? I would have been over the moon.

No problem!! I have to give Norman Lear a lot of credit for tackling these issues and not being afraid of being politically incorrect. How sad it is that TV (and the entertainment industry in general) have regressed so much since his heyday.

I bought this issue when it came out (and still have it!!). They also had spreads on Aaron Spelling and Steven Bochco, with the casts of their respective shows pictured. I posted them up in the General Drama section.

Yeah, I really feel like I was spoiled by all of these great shows. I can't seem to laugh at or get into any modern sitcoms, and I think it's because I know how GOOD a sitcom can be, if executed properly. I mean seriously...in thirty years is ANYBODY going to be reminiscing about "Two and a Half Men"?

You can say that again! And he pulled it off because shows like All In The Family,Maude were so well made.All In The Family for example has been one of the most popular shows in the World since it first aired,because it is so funny not even because it took on alot of issues.Viewers in France, England , Australia ,Israel etc. etc. may not be familiar with or even care about some or even alot of the issues those shows took on,but they still love them.
