Question Do you like to be surprised with gifts?

I do. My wedding anniversary is in two weeks. Yesterday my husband told me that he ordered me a gift, but it won't be here until late October. When he told me this, he named the gift. I asked him why he didn't just give that to me for Christmas, and get me something else for our anniversary.

I didn't get mad at him. How can you get mad at a person for buying a gift. Still, I'm disappointed. I love to open up a wrapped gift and to be surprised. Oh well. Yes, I know there are worse things in life. This is the place to talk about the little things in life. To chit chat.

Yes, I like surprises.

I'm sorry you won't have a gift to unwrap on your anniversary Janice. You could blackmail Lou and tell him that he can't buy any coins at all until he buys you an anniversary gift and wraps it.

I don't like knowing what I'm getting for a gift, unless it's unavoidable.

I know of several people who actually TELL their spouses/s.o.'s/etc, what they want and then the other party just goes out and buys exactly that. No surprise whatsoever. Sure, you are guaranteed the person will like the gift but it really takes a lot of the magic out of things, imo.

Cool

It's definitely more fun if you don't know what the gift is and you get to unwrap it and be surprised!

I did tell my husband that I think he told me because it made him feel good, and that it showed a disregard for my feelings. He knows I like being surprised. He couldn't wait. I'm sure he'll still get me a gift.

What he ordered for me, I had as a teen, and I've spoken of it through the years. So it's more of a sentimental gift. It's the one below, only it's black. I figured it would look cool in the kitchen or the bathroom.

That's cool. I'm sure you will enjoy it. It's too bad that it won't get there by your anniversary. I guess better late then never.

That's actually a surprise I like. Getting a gift is meaning someone cares...even if you don't use the gift and it winds-up in your closet for 10 years and becomes something for a yard sale.

Absolutely! I got a ton of surprises today for my birthday! But it's fun to get surprises any day of the year!

My family never had much money growing up, but in spite of that, we ALWAYS had the most amazing birthday's and Christmase's that one could ever imagine. Mom and dad ALWAYS went all out, and I honestly can't think of anyone who had it better than me and my brother in those days. At that age I loved it, but within the last 10 years or so, I feel the opposite, and do not like getting gifts. Don't get me wrong, I love that people are nice enough to do it, but honestly, the gifts usually just end up collecting dust in my closet. Thankfully, my family listened to me on my 30th, and didn't get me any presents. And it was byfar the greatest birthday I have ever had. Actually it was a hundred times better and more rewarding than all of my previous birthday's put together. I usually try to do something special for friends and family on my birthday as a thank You to God for all He has done for me.

What's even more fun than being surprised is being able to surprise somebody else w/ a gift! *Hugs*

Couldn't agree more!!!

Btw, some of the best gifts Iv'e ever received came from people here at S.O. Cathie, and several others. I mostly enjoy homeade gifts because so much love goes into those. I have a gift that I absolutely treasure that Cathie sent me a few years back. Even though I'm not a fan of gifts in general, I am a huge fan of homeade gifts. They are more valuable than anything, and touch my heart deeply!!
