Valerie Harper Got Role Of Rhoda Immediately But Couldn't Get A Shampoo Commercial
I've been in the business a long time, since I was 16. ... I didn't sweat the ("Mary Tyler Moore") audition. I was not home 10 minutes from the studio and my then-husband was out on the lawn of our little house saying, "You got it, you got it! They just called! You got the part!" It's funny that the most important thing in my career life came so easily, but I went back for 25 callbacks on a Prell shampoo commercial.
