Default Bea Arthur and Esther Rolle on the RuPaul Show

Has anyone caught this clip on youtube. Bea Arthur is interviewed by RuPaul on the talk show. Then the surprise guest Esther Rolle comes out. They looked like they were so happy to see each other.

Here is the clip:

two questions

why would two comedy icons appear on such a crazy show?

Wonder what year this is? 95 to 97?

Esther Rolle passed away before the end of 1998, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah. She did. This was one of her last appearances. Around this time, she was pretty active with roles in movies, tv and those gosh awful psychic "helpline" ads on T.V.

It looks like the two ladies saw each other one last time in November 1998, when People gathered together cast members from Norman Lear's different shows to celebrate the magazine's 25th anniversary (the spread appeared in the March 15, 1999 issue). Ms. Rolle died only a few days after this photo shoot.

Can someone tell me who all these people are? Some of them I recognize, otehrs I don't. In the top photo I see Norman Lear with Jean Stapleton, Sally Struthers, and Rob Reiner from All in the Family, Bea Arthur and I think Adrienne Barbeau from Maude, I think Valerie Bertinelli from One Day at a Time, although I don't know I've never seen it before, and a black man, who I don't know who he is. In the bottom photo, I see Esther Rolle from Good Times, and Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford from the Jeffersons. I don't even know who the rest of the people are. Can you tell me who they are? Thank you

The black man in the pic is me! LOL. Nah, its Jimmie Walker from Good Times. The guy talking to Sherman Hemsley is Graham Jarvis from Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Sitting is Louise Lasser who IS Mary Hartman. Martin Mull (wearing glasses) is from Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and the spinoff Fernwood tonight.
