Default Swearing?

Some people couldn't care less if the person they're talking to cusses left and right while some people cringe everytime they hear a four letter word. Which one are you?

I personally, don't find much of a problem with it. To me, they are simply just words. I will swear when I'm with friends or with people who I know don't care, but if I'm with family or a certain places I will saty away from it.

I swear when I'm pissed, but only with certain people. I don't like potty mouths who can't get through a thought without swearing. It depends on the level of profanity too. We all know the real nasty words. I can do without that. There's a time and a place for everything, and people who swear a lot should know when to put a lid on it.

I don't swear around certain people (My parents, for example). But I may swear behind everyone's backs if I was pissed.

I don't mind mild swearing but I hate gutter talk. I rarely swear. In fact I think I swear more on SO then I ever do in my real life. lol We never swore in my house growing up and it's really not me.I don't really care if people do it when they're with a group of friends in private but when they're out in public talking loud like that, it does bother me.

I try not to swear too often, but I do it when I'm really angry. In general, it's an inelegant way to express yourself, and there are far more creative ways that don't potentially offend someone or signal one's own limited vocabulary.

The laxness in regard to swearing is just one more way we're all becoming coarser as a society, and it's regrettable to me.

I rarely cuss, and I can't stand being around people whose every third word is a cuss word. It has to do with my faith, upbringing, and the fact that I think swearing is just bad manners. Again, that's just me.

I don't. I find it rude, crude and vulgar. Unfortunately, it's almost at an epidemic level these days. I heard one guy talking at a car show; every other sentence was a swear word and he sounded like a complete idiot. I would never have someone like that as a friend (and he probably doesn't have many friends).

My vocabulary is large enough to be able to convey what I want to say without stupid swear words.

That is one reason I like to watch '60s TV shows, like "Bewitched," "Star Trek," "Get Smart," "Bonanza," etc. I know I will only hear English and I can watch it with anyone... friends, family members, etc.

I hate swearing. I think it's rude, disrespectful, immature and stupid to be a trash mouth. I rarely ever swear. There are so many better things to say than swear words. I was raised around it for part of my childhood and it made me sick even then. That's a lot of the reason I don't do it a whole lot now. I heard things that I shouldn't have heard at my age, or at any age.
I used to work with some people that every other word out of their mouth was f this or f that. The f word is probably the one swear word I loathe most. It actually makes me cringe every time I hear it. I complained about it so much before I quit but they never did anything about it.
I am a Christian and that's another reason why I find swearing so offensive. It's considered a sin and an abomination against God to use swear words, especially ones that have God in them.
Sadly, there is more and more of it in this day and age. People are just too lazy to care anymore.

In my earlier days, I use to curse like a sailor, but nowadays I don't really curse anymore since I do have small children and they will emulate what you do. Now if someone really pisses me off then I might let a few words fly, nothing too extreme. It does irritate me when a person curses to the point to where every other word out of their mouth is a curse word.

I feel the same way as Monika and for the same reasons. And like Retro4Life and Tony (Fleet) I think people who swear a lot are revealing how limited their vocabulary is.

Swearing doesn't bother me. Like others said it also depends on who I'm around when using it; swearing isn't a part of my regular vocabulary however.

As far as movies/tv go the only thing that I don't like is excessive swearing for the sake of "just having it" when it has no real relevance to the plot or anything else.

I rarely use bad language. I don't like swear words, but understand that some people might. I prefer movies, tv shows and books that have little or no bad words.
