Confused Could Such A Controversial/Politically Charged Show Like 'Maude' Be Remade Today?

Just curious of all of your opinions or is Maude a show that the networks would shy away from???

Like, All In The Family, Maude was awesome but after 33 years they havent re-booted the series so I cant see them doing so anytime in the future.

they tried a controversial show a few years ago with whoopi and it didnt work so i say no the times have changed too much to allow bold sitcoms like maude to be made today at least on network tv

Not inless Norman Lear did it. He was able to make controversial shows without them seeming mean spirited. Today's producers can't do that.

Yeah, there would be no balance at all. The great thing about Lear is that even though you knew he was a very committed liberal he didn't demonize the other side and would often give their points a fair shake.

Also in today's PC world every group on the planet would be complaining so much the show would never be able to hold enough advertisers. This is very, very sad to me, to think that it's unlikely that any show will ever again engage me like the shows of the 70's did.

A movie maybe but not a series.
