Default Lucie Turmel's killer paroled

Lucie Turmel was a cabbie that was murdered in Alberta, Canada, in May of 1990 for just $130. Two years later, DNA evidence and informant tips led police to Ryan Jason Love who was arrested, tried, and convicted of her murder. He was sentenced to life in prison with parole after 20 years. Sadly, he was paroled just last week. He said he has had the "time of his life" while in prison, and has no remorse for killing Lucie in this article:
http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/mu...246/story.html

But when he was paroled, he apparently changed and said that he had remorse for the murder, and that he has "matured" and that now he can live a normal life after killing an innocent young girl.

Well, that's majorly disturbing. You stab a girl 35 times to death and leave her in the middle of the road all for a little over $100.00, and all you get is a second degree murder charge?

Naturally he's going to say he feels remorse to a parole board. Criminals will say any BS to get free, obviously.

This is tragic. What a serious blow to Lucie's family and friends.

Edit: Look at the comments section of the second article. Bruce Feriancek (the cab driver who chased the killer that night) chimed in...

Quote:
I was also one of his victims, and was there to put him behide bars. he has a free life now, but mu memmory of that night and seeing his family in the court room will never leave. I awayys thought that if you are sent to prison for murder, you lose all rights. Well this man did not lose anything but a free passport to educate himself, while others suffer his crimnial act.

I was the night manager that very night, and the first one to see Lucie on the ground, and tried to chase the man behind the wheel. It was a very traumatic experence for the three of us working that night. I still have so much guilt about her taking that fare. This man has no right for freedom, he took the life of someone that now has no life. Our justice system only can see the criminal rights, but there were so many victims, what about their rights.

F--- this parole board. Seriously. This idiot will more than likely kill again if he has the violence within him to stab someone so many times. And even if he doesn't, he doesn't deserve to be free after taking away someone's life. It's times like this I hate our justice system.

Anytime someone admits to stabbing someone over 30 times because they needed "money for their grandmother's 80th birthday party" should never be paroled, since they are sick in the head. What a shame.

From the one article, it appeared that the victim's family was resigned to the fact he was going to get parole. They weren't going to (or didn't) attend the parole board hearing to mount any kind of opposition to him receiving it.

I'll admit, I don't know much about how parole hearings work, let alone how they would work in Canada.

If you watch this case on the site that shall remain nameless, you'll see a response from a relative of Lucie's killer.

Quote:
Ryan love is my cousin, in this video they make him out to be like any other criminal. Ryan was just like any other kid growing up drank a few beers smoked the odd joint. He had a hearing problem as a kid and couldnt hear in class but was to nervous to say anything so he started failing and eventually dropped out. He ended up moving to banff and basicly just partied all the time. He did a few harder drugs here and there and got to know a few dealers.

One thing you will not find anywhere that wasnt even mentioned in the trial is Lucie Turmel was a part time taxi driver and part time drug dealer. That night was a drug deal gone bad. Ryan is not the type of person any of you would think he is. He always loved animals and people. He truely belives no one deserves to die for any reason. This one night ruined the lives of more people than imaginable. When Ryan gets out he vows to do as much good as he can to try to make up for what he did.

Basicly what im saying is dont belive everything you see and theres always two sides of the story. And stay away from hard drugs!
So many reasons to justify murder in this case. I'm getting tired of hearing them.

Yeah, WTF? Let's assume for a second that she WAS a drug dealer. Does that justify this piece of crap killing her brutally in cold blood? Uhh... NO!

I get so tired of hearing the criminal play the victim card. I bet a lot of people had bad childhoods, or issues growing up, etc., but that does not justify this type of crime at all. I might have sympathy for a guy who can't feed his family and tries to steal food from the corner store. But to stab someone that many times and say, "he loved animals and people"?!? Are these people for real?

What a joke.

I wonder how that brother would feel if his brother had been the victim. Probably much different. Crime is wrong I don't care what the excuse is.
