Music Lady Gaga to rock New Year's Eve with Times Square concert

As if Times Square isn't chaotic enough during New Year's Eve, imagine what will happen when thousands of "Little Monsters" descend on Manhattan to ring in 2012.

That's just what going to happen as Lady Gaga is confirmed to perform at the 40th annual "New Year's Rockin' Eve."

Ryan Seacrest, host of the ABC special says in a statement, "Lady Gaga is one of the most exciting and relevant artists of our time, and we're thrilled to have her join 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' this year in Times Square."

The program will feature five and a half hours of performances from New York and around the world. Back again to host the West Coast portion of the show is Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas.

ABC begins the broadcast at 8:00 p.m. ET on Dec. 31.

Oh No

It's NOT even 100 Shopping Days 'till Christmas and they already have the New Years Rockin' Lineup?

Give me the Weird Al parody anyday!

I like Lady Gaga but I don't watch Rockin' New Years Eve anymore. Not since Ryan Seacrest took over. That man makes me cringe.

I don't think "Rockin' " was intended to literally mean only rock groups could perform. Plenty of non-rock groups have performed over the years even as far back as the 70's.

I would watch it just to see what outrageous outfit she'll be wearing. Probably dress up like the ball they drop at Times Square!!

Music

Pitbull will continue his reign over the 2011 music scene all the way through to the final moments.

The rapper joins Hot Chelle Rae, recently named the American Music Awards' best new artist, as the most recent additions to ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve lineup. The annual special will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest with Jenny McCarthy resuming her post in the heart of Times Square. For the Los Angeles-based portion of the show, Fergie will host.

Already slated to perform are Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, who will take the stage in New York City.
