Question HELP... info on the voting of N&D!!!!!

Does anyone know about the voting the viewer did that brought Niles and Daphne together?

Was the voting before season 7 or during season 7???

The reason I ask is if it was already in the filming of season 7, would they have still have Daphne have feelings for Niles even after she was married to Donny?

I mean, there was the episode, between Daphne finding out Niles' true feelings and Daphne confronting Frasier about it, where Niles and Daphne are cooking at Frasier's. Niles burns his hand and Daphne tenderly rubs cream on his hand over and over.

For the longest time I didn't even know there was any voting, but I still say that I can't believe they even had people vote! I mean the writers were planning on getting N/D together early in the series. Had the viewers decided NOT to have them together, all those completely adorable scenes of lovesick Niles would have been for nothing! I'm so glad that it went the way it did. When I first started watching I DVR'd it from Lifetime and they would show the eps WAY out of order, so one of the very first ones I saw was Something Borrowed, Someone Blue" but that's the one that made me fall in love with the show!

I don't profess to know what I'm talking about with this at all, but my guess is the fans voting would have had absolutely nothing to do with the direction of the show, no matter how the voting turned out. I remember the whole Niles and Daphne story was a very hot topic when they were in the thick of it during it's first run, and I would guess the poll and voting was just something for the fans and to keep the momentum going. It's not like they had to worry about which way the voting was going to turn out... massive amounts of people were tuning in to see what was going to happen with them, and people don't usually watch because they don't want them together. The writers and producers knew that and put a poll out there to stoke the fire. That's my thought, with a little help from a friend who works in the business.

Thanks for that. I'll bet that's very close to the truth.

I'm actually glad I wasn't watching when Frasier was in prime time because I could not have handled all of the suspense! As I was going through the DVD's I quickly realized that there were a lot of cliff-hangers... even when I knew that I could just pop the next DVD into the DVD player and see what happened.
