Exclamation Susan Lucci Decides to Leave 'All My Children'

Given the confirmation of such strong OLTL players staying on-board the soap, it bodes well that other fan faves will soon follow suit.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for All My Children. According to our sister site Deadline, Susan Lucci has declined Prospect Park’s offer to continue with the show. Though she was reportedly offered a salary identical to the one she drew at ABC, it is said that Lucci requested fewer hours and a deal for a primetime series — demands that Prospect wouldn’t/couldn’t meet.

I really can't say I'm surprised - but I REALLY don't see these soaps lasting long on the web. In the case of AMC, Susan Lucci/Erica Kane IS the face of the show. I don't see it lasting long at all without her.

As much as I'd like to see the Soap genre survive I have to agree that they probably won't last too long online. What really needs to happen is for a specialty TV network devoted to Soaps to be created. They could run currents soaps and then fill out the schedule with "vintage" soaps.

Isn't that what Soapnet was supposed to do? Now it's gone too!

I herd she wasn't given the same salary. Now it's 2013 and she says she might try to go to AMC if she can.

The "prime-time" offer or offers must not have panned out. I thought maybe a sit-com or night-time drama with a character like Erica Kane might have happened.
