Post Mail

Have you gotten [regular] mail before that was for another address or had mail that was yours, but never showed up?

From time to time I'll get mail that's for another address so I will put it back out for the mailman/mailwoman to pick up. There have been times when my mail never showed up. I wonder what happens to that mail.

Plenty of times I get mail that's meant to go to somebody else.

If it's within walking distance, like up to 5 or 6 blocks, I would drop off the mail myself, especially if I'm heading in the direction of that address.

I hardly have problems with mail of mine not showing up.

I used to get this guy's medical testing supplies and I would go 3 streets over to give it to him.
He had the same address number I have, just a different street. Nobody ever brought me my mail if they got it by mistake. I notice substitute mail carriers deliver to the wrong houses often.

Cool

Since I live in an apartment building and there are other apartment buildings on the same street I occasionally get mail in box that has my apartment number but a different house number.

I'm a substitute rural mail carrier and I try my hardest to deliver mail to the correct adresses, but we are human and sometimes you just make a mistake. Many subs like myself only work 1 day a week and occasionally work a vacation or sick day for a regular carrier. This type of schedule makes it difficult to become an expert on the route in which we sub. City carrier subs often sub on multiple routes, making it even harder to keep adresses straight. I honestly don't know how they do it. I just have one route to keep straight.

There isn't a regular postal carrier for this route so I guess that's why the mail sometimes gets mixed up or lost. Unfortunately, it's my understanding that "no one wants the route" so it's added to different carriers.

I'm sure it's not easy being a substitute mail carrier.

I didn't mean to sound like I was blaming anyone.
