Default When were "The Good Old Days"?? I must have missed 'em

I truly cannot remember a time in the past 4 decades that wasn't described as "tough times". At no point did anyone say "Hey! These times are Great! It's Magnificent how the economy's going! Everybody who wants a job has one and the country is at the very top of it's game!" No. I know I don't remember anything even remotely like that. Each year for the past 40 people have always, always said "We are living in tough times". So when the heck were the "Good ole Days"??

I think it was childhood, but Otto Bettmann made it perfectly clear in one book....

Cool

The good old days began with the end of World War 2 and lasted into the 1970's.

The good old days were when we wore animal skins, lived in caves and beat each other over the head with clubs. There were no taxes, insurance companies or politicians. As long as you had the biggest club, you had no worries.

I don't think you know you're living in the good old days until they're long gone.

I think Sonny makes an excellent point when he said that we don't know the good old days while we're actually living them. I tend to look back at the late 80's and early 90's as being "the good old days" though I'm sure I didn't think so at the time. We often don't appreciate what we have while we actually have it.

I hate how people imply if you dislike something new, it's due to nostalgia.
Sometimes things suck period.
For example, I'm getting tired of the obsession with electronic dance music. I don't hate dance music but I just hate the current incarnation because it so obviously sounds cheap and as if little or no effort was put into it.

I've got to disagree. I don't think the good old days really ever existed. I think we just con ourselves into believing that an earlier time was "the good old days."

For me the good ole days were growing up during the late 60's-80's. When you're a kid you really want for nothing everything is given to you no responsibilities or worries. I miss that time of my life with my parents, going to school, vacations in the summer, the Holidays, home cooked meals, visiting my Grandmother, going on cookouts at parks, etc.
