^^ Hands down. Young, pretty babysitter abducted, her blood and bloody clothes later found elsewhere. Nearly 60 years later, no resolution.

Runners up:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/f/fandel_amy.html
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/f/fandel_scott.html

A brother and sister who vanished from their cabin in the woods in the middle of the night.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...n_dennise.html
She tried to evade the man who killed her mother and tried to kill her mother's acquaintance, but was run off the road and abducted. She had never driven before.

Here's another one that fascinates me. I mean, she was in school and everything when this happened, but at least there's a little resolution:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/davis_kiplyn.html

There are loads of others, particularly ones where people were abducted from convenience stores (a la Deborah Poe), and someone had been there or come in five minutes before or after the fact. I'm going to look into some and post them here. I find that a lot of the pre-1960s cases are pretty shocking.

This is a strange one for sure. His sister posted on another board recently with some info that wasn't correct on Charley. http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/l/lovely_david.html

Some others:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/..._patricia.html She was one of 4 young women who went missing together on the same day at the Indiana Dunes State Park. See the Helen Brach case and Silas Jayne horse syndicate for more info.

My Lord those are TERRIFYING! Especially the first one since he said he was scared and all and it's pretty clear what must have happened. The second one is very disturbing as well.

Few Charley Project cases have piqued my interest as much as the 1988 disappearance of 69-year-old Virginia C. Douglas of Lexington, Massachusetts. I have mentioned the case at this forum before, and submitted it to Unsolved Mysteries to no avail.

Virginia Douglas went missing during the Labor Day weekend in 1988. Her husband, Frank Douglas, claimed that they were on a trip to Maine when she (supposedly) vanished from a restroom there. But evidence suggests that she met with foul play in her house. For that reason, investigators are convinced that Virginia never went to Maine that weekend at all.

Two young women and a child vanish during a shopping trip.

Over sixty years ago, a child vanished from a carnival:

And, another disappearance of a child nearly sixty years ago, who was seen hitchhiking beforehand:

Ben Padilla, who last known to be rebuilding a 727 that took off from Angola without clearance. The 727 has never been found and there has been all kinds of theories as to why it was taken:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/p/padilla_ben.html

David Waggoner, whose motorcycle was found in a county where Sheriff Humpy Parker and some of his deputies were regularly falsely arresting and extorting money out of 'alternative' types -- hippies, motorcycle and van drivers:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...ner_david.html

Blake Pursley, who disappeared from a special needs school. He had medical issues that would make it unlikely that he could live for very long. Two other students have also disappeared from there:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...ley_blake.html

Marie Anjiras, similar to Amy Billig in that there were claims that she was with bikers some time after her disappearance:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...ras_maria.html

Carla Corley, who was gang raped, then harassed her by her perpetrators at her home a week prior to her disappearance:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/c/corley_carla.html

Annette Sangers, who disappeared around a year after her mother also vanished:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...s_annette.html

Lynne Schulze, who vanished after going back to her dorm to get a pen for an exam:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...lze_lynne.html

This one is on Doenetwork and not CP, unfortunately there isn't a photo, but the circumstances are pretty strange:

That first case has Ted Bundy written all over it. Someone should investigate him in that one...

I have a few:

Althea Blankinship, whose roommate is suspected in here disappearance and in that of his ex-wife as well:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...ip_althea.html

Bongak Koja, who went for a daily 3:00 AM walk nearly every day and disappeared one morning:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/k/koja_bongak.html

Robert Spurlock, also missing from Hawaii and AWOL from the Army:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...ck_robert.html

Trenny Gibson, one of the Smokies disappearances:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...on_trenny.html

Tonetta Carlisle, whose abduction was actually witnessed:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...e_tonetta.html

Mary Switalski. Bizarre story:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...lski_mary.html

I think the Fandel children from Alaska were previously posted, but that is definitely a creepy and interesting one as well.

Now THIS could have made the most interesting and controversial "Final Appeal" story on UM!
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...h_tiffany.html

This 8-year old girl vanishes and a convicted child molester confesses to her murder. He gets convicted, but then claims he made up the confession because he didn't want to get released from prison and leave their sex offender treatment program. He still remains in prison to this day, but a lot of people believe he had nothing to do with Tiffany Papesh's disappearance.

It's a VERY interesting conundrum: the guy might be innocent, but does anyone really want to fight to let a convicted child molestor back onto the streets who will likely offend again and hurt someone else? On the other hand, if they refuse to overturn the conviction, another child murderer somewhere is allowed to remain free and possibly kill again!

The Smokey mountains disappearance I've read about before. It's even more unsettling to me that the girl was born exactly, to the date, thirty years before I was and had the same wavy type hair I do.

Yes, Meg, the Fendel children one just bothers me so much. Two children in an unlocked cabin, obvious interrupted during making a snack in the middle of the night... it's beyond upsetting to think of what might have happened.
