103-year-old Ohio woman crowned queen at local county fair

RANDOLPH, Ohio (AP) — A 103-year-old northeast Ohio woman has been crowned queen at a local county fair. The Kent-Ravenna Record-Courier reports (http://bit.ly/peDuC2) Adeline Spencer of Ravenna fought back tears Friday as she received her Senior Fair Queen tiara from Junior Fair Queen Sarah Briggs at the Portage County-Randolph Fair. Spencer is the oldest resident at the Woodlands at Robinson nursing home in Ravenna and had at first declined to represent the home at the fair. Spencer's daughter, Louise Sands of Windham, says she convinced her mother to go, telling her "We've never had a king or queen in our family." Spencer has lived in the county for 91 years. |
