Cool 'The Flagstones' - The Lost Original Pilot Revealed!

Finally, the chance to see the Fred and Wilma that could have been.

Although it has apparently been on YouTube since 2008, a clip from the original "Flintstones" pilot has been making the rounds lately. In the original pilot of the Hanna-Barbera prime time animated series, the Flintstones were known as the Flagstones, and the voices and production designs of some of the characters changed slightly. (Some have speculated that the name was changed so that audiences wouldn't confuse the Modern Stone Age Family with the Flagstons of the comic strip "Hi & Lois.")

Cartoon impresario Seth MacFarlane is currently developing a rebooted version of "The Flintstones" to air on Fox in 2013.

Cool

The Flagstones also had some different cast members. In the Flagstones Fred was voiced by Daws Butler and Betty was voiced by June Foray. When the show became a series(as The Flintstones) those roles were played by Alan Reed and Bea Benaderet.

It's also musically different, since instead of the much more familiar early Hoyt Curtin tunes used on the show, H-B did what they did for their other earlier [at this time 1959] cartoons - stock music, in this case from Valentino and the more familiar John Seely library. the first piece is from Cadkin-Bluestone, whose compositions could be heard in very early Augie Doggie shorts. That Hawaiian music is from a guy named Eddie Lund, who really did live and work in Tahita (died 1973).
