Once the Jeffersons moved to Tuesdays in January of 85, they wanted Mike Evans to return so he could break up with Jenny. So why not just work on closing out the series since they already had Lionel and Jenny divorce?

Give florence a man who she moves in with

Willises move out into their own home

Bently moves out

And have all the characters in the jeffersons apartment one last time and have a flashback episode on the last 10 years.

Because the show got cancelled while they were on Hiatus. Why would they do all of those story lines when everyone thought that they were all coming back for another season?

I don't know what was appealing about the jeffersons going to Atlantic City as the first episode of Tuesday nights

followed by the Reggie jackson episode, followed by Willis being surrounded by playmates-lol It was also stated that Roxie, Franklin, and Isabel wanted to keep doing the show until their teeth fell out-lol Who the hell was going to watch at that point?

I think that with all sitcoms that has a long run, the writing starts to get stale. Also the writers change so the story lines change.
