I was hanging out with my Vietnam buddy, Preston in his garage earlier today. We were talking about this NBA lockout talk, and about great NBA players who might be moving to Europe to play, because they are so greedy, and think they deserve more money. My goodness, Five million dollars a year isn't enough for you?? You are playing a freaking game for crying out loud. There are people out their working their asses off doing actual work, and they get minimum wage, and they complain about it less than these greedy athletes. PATHETIC!! What are your thoughts on all this nonsense?

I don't watch NBA basketball nearly as much as I used to because the game itself is a lot more boring and predictable to me. The league has too many specialists who can only do one thing. I hate that.
There's nothing new out there. I'm just glad they didn't do this stuff when Magic and Bird were running the show! But after seeing the Celtics teams of the late 60s, the great Knicks, Lakers and Celtics teams of the 70s, the Lakers and Celtics of the 80s, the Bulls of the 90s, the Lakers and Spurs during the past 10 years... I feel like I actually HAVE seen it all. Three superstars getting together on one team to try to win it all is nothing new (1969, Wilt/West/Baylor... who also didn't win). We'll watch some games if they end up playing. If they don't, there are way too many other choices in terms of entertainment. |

Let NBA get locked out for a season!
They deserve it! This'll make people like LeButthead NOT win a ring for another year! |

I gave up on the NBA a number of years ago when they teased us by giving us the Vancouver Grizzlies only to take them away from us a few years later. I gave the NBA a second chance a few years ago and started following the Seattle Sonics only to have them taken away too! So I'm done with the NBA and therefore I don't care if they play or not.

Sometimes it seems like today's NBA is more popular overseas than it is here in the U.S.

But imho, soccer will never come close to the commercial success the other 4 major team sports have achieved here, for a number of reasons, not the least of which is an almost complete lack of statistics (due to the low scores). Sports fans LOVE stats. Soccer doesn't really have any Soccer's popularity in other parts of the world comes in part because, while low scoring, it can be pretty suspenseful. That's one of the things that tie those fans to the game. U.S. sports fans demand more action, whether it's in the form of scoring, or hard hitting, or displaying great speed. To most U.S. sports fans, it takes a soccer ball WAY too long to get from one end of the field to the other. Another reason for its worldwide popularity is that it can be played with virtually no equipment, other than the ball...you don't even need shoes... a very inexpensive game to play.. Soccer players (good ones) can do some amazing things with the ball. I think I appreciate that more than anything... but there just aren't enough NUMBERS (stats) to get the attention of the U.S. sporting public. There are a lot of soccer leagues for kids.... but that's because (1) the parents...the Moms actually... think their kids have less of a chance of getting hurt than in some of the other sports... and (2) a lot of white parents think their kid can be a soccer pro some day, even if careers in pro football, baseball and basketball are beyond their reach. |

^Okay...maybe you're right.
The US gets into soccer once The World Cup is on, so the next one will be 2014, but it seems to get stronger as years go by. |

Brad Russ, i agree with everything you said. How come you got suspended for a minute? There shouldn't even be a NBA lockout and i blame the players for there being a lockout because they're greedy. They're already getting a lot of money and i don't see why they want more. They ought to be lucky they're getting the money they're getting because a lot of them don't deserve it. You got people who are starving to death and who are homeless and unemployed and they would be happy to be getting the money these NBA players are getting. I'm gonna be upset if there isn't a NBA season this year because i love NBA basketball. These players need to deal with reality and stop being ignorant and greedy because they know if they weren't playing basketball, they wouldn't be able to get a job because a lot of them are uneducated and stupid. A lot of black basketball players go to college just to play basketball so they can go to the NBA hahahahahahahahaha. They aren't interested in getting a education and the colleges know that. That's why colleges make a lot of money off of them especially when they have the NCAA basketball tournaments and they don't even know they're basically slaves.
Brad Russ, when you get a chance, read this book called 40 Million Dollar Slaves by William Rhoden. It's a good book. I read it. William gives his opinion about NBA black players and he says he thinks they're slaves. I think William is a sportswriter for ESPN. |

Rhoden is a sports writer for the New York Times. He appears regularly on the ESPN Sunday morning show "The Sports Reporters". He's probably one of their more frequent panelists. When he speaks, he has a hard time finishing sentences, he's always starting on the next sentence before he finishes the one he's saying now, kind of funny to listen to it when it happens.
If NBA players are slaves, then why the complaints about slavery? I suppose he bought Latrell Spreewell's complaint what a struggle it is to feed his family
