Default Guy Smiley or Sonny Friendly? Favorite Host of Sesame Street Game Shows?

Hey guys,

Here's a question for you to debate on:

Now, Sesame Street has been on for over 40 years on Public Television, but there have been many Game Show Hosts on Sesame Street, but there were only 2 of them that have been on so many of them:

I'm talking about Guy Smiley and Sonny Friendly

Guy Smiley has hosted many Game Shows on Sesame Street from Beat the Time to Here is Your Life to Name That Sound to Infamous Game Shows like To Tell a Face and The Triangle is Right

Sonny Friendly on the other hand hosted a Game Show called The My Best Friend Game Show and he would later pops up out of no where with his MIC in hand with most of his game shows are under the umbrella title "Sonny Friendly's Traveling Game Show," where he hosts game shows from various sites all over Sesame Street.

His signature phrase is, "Are we having a nice day, or what?"

Sonny would also have contestants from the likes of Telly Monster, Gina and Maria and Luis, but sometimes, even Maria and Luis would get so irritated they would be like "OUT!"

Guy Smiley was originally performed by Muppet Creator the late Jim Henson while Sonny Friendly was performed by the late Richard Hunt and later David Rudman

and so, I ask you all this:

Who's your favorite Sesame Street Game Show Host?

Guy Smiley or Sonny Friendly?

That's the Question!

Please Debate on this

Guy Smiley w/a MIC in Hand

Sonny Friendly w/a MIC in Hand

My vote goes to Guy Smiley. As for Sonny Friendly, I remember owning the half-hour special (released on home video in 1988) called "The Alphabet Game" where Big Bird went on the game show "Alphabet Treasure Hunt" and it was CLEARLY obvious that Sonny was favoring the other two contestants over him in judgment calls! Jeez! At least Guy Smiley was always fair to all contestants on all his shows.

Guy Smiley, now that guy was funny (not saying Sonny Friendly wasn't). Guy Smiley is now performed by Eric Jacobson (who also performs Bert & Grover and Frank Oz's classic Muppet Show characters).

Here's a clip with Guy Smiley and Sonny Friendly together.

Cool What about a real person game show host on Sesame Street?

I remember one game show sketch that had real game show host. His name is Richard Dawson. He did that one Sesame Street game show sketch called "Family Food." It was a parody of popular 70's hit TV game show, Family Feud. It was rare to have a real person game show host appearing on the sketch instead of Guy Smiley and Sonny Friendly. I love Jerry Nelson doing the announcement. And the contestants are the Hungry Family.

Movie What about Pat Playjacks?

Don't forget Pat Playjacks. Well, He was one shot character for that one Sesame Street sketch called "Squeal of Fortune." In this sketch the contestants are Count Von Count and Prairie Dawn. This was a spoof of the NBC-TV game show, Wheel of Fortune. The objects is to guess the number of squeals the pig is going to make as the wheel the pig was on was spun. Prairie loses the game because she guessed 10. But the pig only made 5 squeals. The Count Von Count won the game because he guessed 3 and the pig made exactly 3 squeals. After the Count Von Count won the game, Pat Playjacks introduced the prizes shown by Velma Blank. The prizes are The barrel of finger painting, Grapefruit Googles for the protection of morning squirt, or The portrait of America's Second Favorite Game Show Host, Pat Playjacks. The Count Von Count chooses the pig, So he can take it home and count the squeals. And then an Eel comes in to ask Pat Playjacks "Is this Eel of Fortune?" And Pat Playjacks went "NO! The Eel of Fortune is next door." Pat Playjacks is based on Pat Sajak and was performed by Jim Henson. Velma Blank is based on Vanna White and was performed by David Rudman although Velma Blank was a silent character in this sketch.
