Miramax Launching Movie Streaming Service on Facebook
Miramax Launching Movie Streaming Service on Facebook
By Alex Suskind Posted Aug 22nd 2011 Who's ready to spend more time on Facebook? Miramax is launching a movie streaming service, called Miramax eXperience, for Mark Zuckerberg's company. According to paidContent, the studio plans on initially releasing 20 titles that Facebook users will be able to rent for 48 hours (10 titles will be available to people in the U.K. and Turkey). Of course, the service won't be free. You will have to dole out 30 credits (the equivalent of $3) to watch films like Chicago, Cold Mountain and Good Will Hunting. Facebook also wanted to make it clear that this deal may not be exclusive to Miramax, and more studios may be jumping on the streaming bandwagon. "We're talking to all the movie studios," said Dan Rose, Facebook VP of Partnerships and Platform Marketing. "One of the things Miramax approached us about was the notion of being able to buy on Facebook and watch on other platforms." In addition to their home computer, users will be able to stream movies via iPad and on Google TV. https://apps.facebook.com/miramaxapp/ http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/08/22...vie-streaming/ |
