Default 1-45 Killer "Texas Killing Fields"

Never heard of this story before. young girls and schoolgirls were murdered from the early 80's until early 2000. (a span of 28 years) many of the girls were unidentified. and some people believe the real serial killer is still on the loose. others blame the high amount of Sexual Offenders released into Texas for the crimes. others blame the crimes on someone impersonating a Police officer for the murders.

The crimes have been made into a film called "The Texas Killing Fields". victims' family members are not happy. because the Producers did not call to ask their input. others feel the movie is exploitive of the real crimes.

What'd you guys think? anyone have anymore info. or theories on this?

Having grown up in Houston and now living outside of Houston, it has always been my opinion that there isn't just one I-45 killer. There are most likely several killers. I did not know there was a film coming out about it so I will have to look it up.

I think some of the cases were serial killings, and others weren't. There were likely a number of perpetrators.

Here's a July 2011 article about one of the cases mentioned on UM (about Michael Self's conviction), Sharon Shaw and Renee Johnson's homicides, and how their case may be linked with two other young girls, who also frequently hung out at Wix's Water Ski School in Galveston, who were murdered three months after Shaw and Johnson went missing:

Wingo told the Chronicle he never was sure whether one or several killers were responsible for the all the murders. Now retired, he's frustrated that he didn't assemble enough evidence for an arrest, though there were promising suspects, including a sheriff's son from Hondo, a Florida drifter and a murderer jailed for a different crime.
I'm not sure, but the third guy might be a reference to Ed Bell (also a UM subject). Bell is interesting, since he lived in the home of one of the sailing instructors and co-owned a nearby surf shop around the time some of these girls went missing from Galveston, but again, there seems to have been several killers around the region. Another suspect for some of the other murders was a retired NASA engineer, who owned the property where several victims were found.

I've always gotten that impression too. I've traveled through that area a few times, and it's just the perfect place to dump a body. It's a simple as that. Vast expanses of bayou and marsh land, not much around besides refineries and interstate.

Here's the trailer. Looks pretty intense...and like it was given the real Hollywood treatment.

Bill Kurtis did an Investigative Reports episode on the I45 killings a number of years ago. Really chilling stuff.
