hey everyone!

I had been working on making a "Facts of Life" guide that had the original dates that the episodes not only aired but were also taped as you can see here:

Doing this got me trying to find the tape dates for the episodes of Good Times. In order to do that, I did a lot of researching and trying to tack down original scripts and whatnot and news articles for the dates of taping. I only wanted to show you what I have so far, and you "Good Times" behind the scenes experts in the house, I will need your help in finding out more, so here is what I have:

The tape Dates are in brackets. The question marks beside some dates are approximate, but not too sure about (I had to look at other shows' tape dates to get some of them), but maybe you all can help me out

Sorry about the repeat topic posts. I had submitted it and it had logged me off so I thought I had lost the post, so I had to repost not knowing that the post was already up.

But anyway, I did get some updates on info about the episodes with question marks. After careful exhaustive research and various forms of fact-checking, I have the correct and verified tape dates of the episodes. The New Info is as follows:

UPDATE: O have just read BernNadette Stanis' new book "Good Times: Ain't We Lucky We Got Them" and she goes into detail about the taping schedule for the show. According to her, in the first season they were at CBS television City. Fridays began with a table read. Over the weekend, they would dive into their lines and gear up for Monday's rehearsals. By Tuesday, they have their lines and blocking memorized for that day's rehearsals. On Wednesdays, they would go to the soundstage and continued rehearsals for the cameras and boom operators. Thursdays were tape days. So if that is the case, then the first season's dates are completely wrong. here is the corrected tape dates.

Thanks! You did some good work. You should be commended. It looks like Esther Rolle left Maude, had her Christmas vacation hiatus then went to work on her spinoff, Good Times. What a great Christmas/New Years gift.

I find it unusual that Good Times would be taped on Mondays, as the first 4 episodes were. Are those tape dates or script dates? I can see where a script would be dated on Monday for a Monday morning read or revision. The next 3 were Tuesdays and the remainder of Season 1 tapings were Wednesdays, according to your schedule. All the rest of the dates from Season 2 through the rest of the series were Thursdays, meaning that the show probably could finish an episode in 4 days by then.

UPDATE: O have just read BernNadette Stanis' new book "Good Times: Ain't We Lucky We Got Them" and she goes into detail about the taping schedule for the show. According to her, in the first season they were at CBS television City. Fridays began with a table read. Over the weekend, they would dive into their lines and gear up for Monday's rehearsals. By Tuesday, they have their lines and blocking memorized for that day's rehearsals. On Wednesdays, they would go to the soundstage and continued rehearsals for the cameras and boom operators. Thursdays were tape days. So if that is the case, then the first season's dates are completely wrong. here is the corrected tape dates.

In order to do that, I did a lot of researching and trying to tack down original scripts and whatnot and news articles for the dates of taping. I had submitted it and it had logged me off so I thought I had lost the post, so I had to repost not knowing that the post was already up. But anyway, I did get some updates on info about the episodes with question marks. After careful exhaustive research and various forms of fact-checking, I have the correct and verified tape dates of the episodes. The New Info is as follows: UPDATE: O have just read BernNadette Stanis' new book "Good Times: Ain't We Lucky We Got Them" and she goes into detail about the taping schedule for the show. According to her, in the first season they were at CBS television City. Fridays began with a table read. Over the weekend, they would dive into their lines and gear up for Monday's rehearsals. By Tuesday, they have their lines and blocking memorized for that day's rehearsals. On Wednesdays, they would go to the soundstage and continued rehearsals for the cameras and boom operators.
