Anthrax's Scott Ian Blogs About His "The Walking Dead" Zombie Experience
August 17, 2011
By: MrDisgusting

The other day Ian took to his official blog where he detailed his experience of being on "The Walking Dead" set:

"Next was making sure I could convincingly walk like a corpse. I just did what felt natural, started with a broken ankle which would cause me to lean, let my arm swing like dead weight, head forward, blackened teeth (Black Tooth!) gnashing.

I showed my walk to zombie pro Joe (didn’t get his last name) and he approved. He said I looked dead! No walking notes. No zombie faux pas (typical rookie mistake would be arms up like Frankenstein).

I guess I am just genetically wired to play the undead.

[Interview] Talking Zombies With Anthrax's Scott Ian!
Posted on October 21, 2011
By: Jonny B.

What is it like being a zombie on "The Walking Dead"?

That I can say was a dream come true! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and something I felt like I would get an opportunity to do. Not specifically on "Walking Dead" of course. But someday I figured I’d get to be an extra in something and get made-up like a zombie. If I keep putting it out there enough and make myself available, it’ll happen.

I just lucked out, the planets aligned. My agent got a call asking if I wanted to come down to a "Walking Dead" webisode shoot and Greg Nicotero was directing it and his team was going to make me up. So, not only did I get to do it, but I got to do it in the best possible way I could ever do it.

Oh, and I get the best make up and FX guys in the business? Sure!

Without asking for too many spoilers, does your zombie have a bigger role than some of the "bit part" zombies?

I did get what is called the "full hero" treatment, which means I got the full treatment, not just a background. They did do a separate shot of me turning and following the living characters as they run past me.

Whether or not it makes it into the thing, I don’t know, but they did do that shot.

Thanks so much Scott! I’m looking forward to seeing you shamble for brains!

[laughs] Right on man!
