What do you think?

“Gilligan’s Island” premiered in 1964 on CBS, to almost uniformly terrible reviews. But since then it has never, not even once, been off the air. For 12 years, “Gilligan’s Island: The Musical” (co-written by the TV show’s creator Sherwood Schwartz) has been touring theaters across the United States.

I'm not even sure why the critics had to spout such venom at it. Where was the harm in it? It was very clever writing, superb comic acting. It even had things to say. Mr. Howell's materialism made fun of capitalism, and it showed us the best and the worst of human nature. Sometimes I think critics don't actually think for themselves, they're just too busy trying to be clever.

I know I'd rather be a viewer any day, b/c I love it!

They must have wondered why Ginger and the Howells brought so many clothes for a 3-hour tour. And why didn't Gilligan and the others clothes wear out??

I always guessed it was because it was a one-way cruise and that the Professor was the only one who was going to join Gilligan and the Skipper for the trip back to home port.

The clothes didn't wear out because they took good care of them!

Thing is, that tiny little boat wouldn't even have had room for all those clothes and that trunk full of money even if it was a one way cruise!

My reasoning is that everything they acquired over the years washed up in the lagoon. Heck, they found a whole case of film equpiment and costumes buried on a sunken vessel right there in the lagoon. I think the lagoon was some kind of secret portal to a world that provided them with everything they needed- except rescue.

The amount of falling down Gilligan did, I'm amazed his clothes weren't in shreds by the end of week one. But I'd have been happy to see him wandering around in a grass skirt, no problem.

I think the criticism has died down. I don't think I have ever seen GI on the "Worst TV Shows of All Time" lists.
