Whenever you see John do you find it hard not to think of the horrible way he died?

I'm not saying that's the ONLY thing you think of. Far from it.

When I see a hilarious episode of 3's Company I watch just like when Ritter was alive but in the back of your mind it's hard not the think of the horrible way he died.

I mean he was looking forward to going home to spend his daughter's 5th birthday and he never made it home since he died of cardiac condition he never knew he had.

But let's be honest and ANY doctor will tell you this. Ritter should've done a better job taking care of his health. I heard from someone who saw him the last year of his life and she said he looked VERY unhealthy..

To be honest, no, I don't think of how he died when I watch Three's Company. Just like I don't think about how John Lennon was killed when I'm listening to The Beatles, or how Jimi Hendrix died when I'm listening to him. I think it's just a testament to John's genius and how well he played the role of Jack Tripper that I don't think about anything except what I'm watching on the screen.

Yes, when it first happened I couldn't watch "Three's Company" or any of John's other TV shows and movies. It just hurt too much. Enough time has passed now, that I can enjoy John and the show again. I still miss him, but he left us a lot to be happy about.

Obviously I don't ruminate about it or obsess about it. But whenever I see Three's Company you can't help but think the awful way he died.

I mean he was her one minute and gone the next. What makes it worse is it was mostly preventable with lifestyle choices. Of course they would've needed to be started years before but if he watched his diet, took his meds, and got regular checkups he could very possibly still be with us!

Not if he died 8 years ago. Maybe in the fall of 2003 but why would someone continue to think about it when watching Three's Company?

Because he died at relatively young age in a shocking way. Plus several cast members like Richard Kline, Jeffery Tambor, Jordan Charney, etc. are older than him but still alive.

Even Richard Kline said he can't even WATCH the show anymore since Ritter died! I can watch it of course since I never knew him but it's always in the back of my mind.

As time passes it easier to watch the show. I been watching three's company every week since july and never gave his death any thought. And even when I watched in 2003 I decided to celebrate his life by watching his best episodes.

That's pretty much how I do it.

If I stopped watching shows because an actor or actress died, I wouldn't be watching many. Many of the actors of my childhood are all gone. That's not to say I didn't take John's death hard. He was one of the very few that I cried over.

You could say something similar about almost any death though. "Oh, if he did this he would still be with us" or "If she went that way instead of this way, she would still be with us." But, the truth is, it was just the person's time to go. Most of us here, didn't know John personally so how can we judge him or his lifestyle choices? We don't know what he did or tried to do.

It speaks volumes that even Richard Kline said he can't even watch 3C anymore!

You gotta remember that Ritter died an especially horrifying death PLUS he was still fairly young!

I bet you the vast majority of actors that died that you speak of didn't die so young and/or didn't suddenly drop dead!

Well he knew John Ritter personally. I don't know much about the actors personal lives but I imagine they were probably friends.

I was and still am sad that he died so young. His show 8 Simple Rules was great and he was an amazing actor. It doesn't stop me from watching his shows though. Three's Company I can watch without being reminded of his death except for maybe sometimes it'll pop up in my mind that he died. 8 Simple Rules is the harder one because they did an episode all about his death, but I still enjoy and would watch the show again.
