I finally saw the E! True Hollywood Story
of Growing Pains last night. I gotta ask something though, why did Kirk Cameron call the writers/directors pornographers? Is it because they hired the blonde who posed in Playboy and kept her on the show? Can someone explain this? |

It's a long mess to explain, but Cameron had some sort of spiritual awakening, and tried to change everything in his life (including the content of the show) into more wholesome ways. He had many disputes with the exec. prods. about moral questions on the show (is Mike sleeping with a girl he's not married to, should a joke have a sleazy double-meaning, so on). So, from what I could tell, he was so dissatisfied with their approach to Mike's loose lifestyle, he called the head of the network in the middle of the night and made the pornographers comment. Obviously an attempt at getting the producers fired, but he got his wish when they resigned over his attitude.

So basically, there was no explanation of
why Kirk called them pornogrphers. I hope Kirk has changed his ways and his attitude a little bit. It's just I thought Kirk Camerons family was religious, that's the impression I got when I read about Candace, she made a comment about her family being somewhat religious. Did he want to become "more" religious or something? |

For whatever reason he became all goody-goody and tried to force that onto the show. He should've just left if he believed that all the characters lives should be G-rated. They said he just showed up for the beginning of one of the later seasons a different person and detached himself from the group. Even in the E! interview he constantly talks with a grin and that mellow kind of voice you hear from someone high on spirituality. It's ok for someone to change a few things about their lifestyle, but to try and foist it on others I don't agree with.
