"Jersey Shore" Scores Biggest Season Premiere Numbers in MTV History
Aug 5, 2011 by Rich Juzwiak Those who are wishing that "Jersey Shore" would go away are going to have to wish harder: A total of 8.8 million viewers watched the reality show's Season 4 premiere, making it the biggest season premiere in MTV history. While it bested the Season 3 premiere (which nabbed 8.45 million viewers), "Jersey Shore's" season premiere numbers were not the biggest for a single MTV telecast. That distinction goes to the fourth episode of Season 3 (in which Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was released from jail) — that one had 8.87 million viewers.
