Martin Lawrence may return to TV in new CBS sitcom

Martin Lawrence is reportedly in negotiations to return to series television.

The Big Momma's House star is in talks with CBS to star in a new sitcom, according to New York Magazine.

Lawrence first rose to fame in '80s sitcom What's Happening Now!! and later starred in his own Fox comedy series Martin from 1992 to 1997.

The comedian is best known for his roles in such films as 1995's Bad Boys and its 2003 sequel, 1999's Blue Streak and 2001's Black Knight.

Lawrence will serve as executive producer on the new comedy, though no writer has yet been appointed to the project. CBS Television Studios will produce.

CBS is also developing a new sitcom with Deuce Bigalow comic Rob Schneider, which is currently undergoing reshoots.

Martin DID make a guest appearance on the present black comedy sitcom; Love That Girl, which he's one of the producers of the show.

It is shown on TVOne on Mondays at 10pm.
