Rachel Maddow Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension at MSNBC
Rachel Maddow Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension at MSNBC
by Alex Moaba posted Aug 2nd 2011 Now that the debt ceiling debate is settled, MSNBC has turned its attention to more important matters. The network has signed Rachel Maddow to a multi-year contract extension that runs through the 2012 election, according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter. MSNBC chief Phil Griffin confirmed the news at MSNBC's TCA Panel. Since it premiered in late 2008, "The Rachel Maddow Show" has occupied MSNBC's 9PM hour, and has gradually gained prominence, and ratings. It now consistently averages over 1 million viewers per night and ranks 2nd in the 9PM cable news standings, behind Fox's Sean Hannity but ahead of "Piers Morgan Tonight" on CNN. The signing also puts to bed the rumor that Olbermann would try to poach Maddow, his friend and former understudy, to join him on Al Gore's Current TV. Olbermann himself has been stoking those rumors, saying on an appearance on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" that'd "someday I'd really like Rachel to come work with me at Current, when legally she's available to do it." It looks like that won't be possible for quite awhile. http://www.aoltv.com/2011/08/02/rach...sion-at-msnbc/ |
