Did you ever notice the name and status of the girl Mary Ann's boyfriend married in The Postman Cometh? Her name was Sybil WENTWORTH and she was a shipping HEIRESS. Do you think maybe it was niece or cousin of Lovey's and the writers wanted to see if anybody would notice? I'm inclined to think so and if they had connected that more, it could made for an even more interesting plot line.

That might be pushing the coincidence factor a bit too far. Well spotted though. I never noticed it.

Unless there was an actual Wentworth family knocking around in real life and the writers were making a pop culture reference, then maybe they did put it in just to see if anyone would notice. (Probably not many did.)

It would be interesting to know how Horace Higgenbotham from Horner's Corners managed to meet a shipping heiress.

She wasn't the only Sybil either. In "You've Been Disconnected" when Gilligan and Mary Ann tapped into a party line between feuding lovers, the lady's name was also Sybil.

I wonder if there was someone in the crew with he name Sybil. In one of the Brady Bunch episodes, also produced by Sherwood Shwartz, Carol was talking to Bobby about not giving up and she mentioned a Carl Mahakian, and there was a Carl Mahakian in the crew of the the Brady Bunch. His name was showed in the end credits as the post production coordinator.
