![]() I know, I know John Travolta went on to become a huge movie star, but were the pieces in play for a POSSIBLE spin-off? If I am not mistaken, didn't Barbarino drop out of high school and become a nurse? Didn't he get his own apartment and start dating an older woman? My memory might be fuzzy on those things, but if what I just wrote is accurate, that in itself sounds like a show! |

I think he would've rather done a Barbarino spinoff than that dreadful movie he made in 1978 with Lily Tomlin (Moment By Moment). I know I would have!!!

It was so godawful that Travolta told Universal he'd do another picture with them for FREE if they would shelve MBM. Obviously, it didn't work.
It's never been released on VHS or DVD, but I had the great misfortune of catching it on the local Sunday afternoon movie once a few years back. It was so bad I COULDN'T stop watching!!! Here's a hilarious review that takes great joy in trashing this awful flick: http://www.agonybooth.com/recaps/Mom...ment_1978.aspx |

![]() Wow, I never knew that! Maybe a Barbarino spin-off wasn't all that far fetched!? I mean, throw some serious dollar signs his way with him in the lead and you never know. The creators of "Kotter" should've at least tried. |

Travolta really had an erratic career the next decade or so after WBK ended. He started the 1980s off strong with Urban Cowboy and Blow Out - but then came duds like Staying Alive, Two of a Kind, Perfect, etc. Maybe doing a TV spinoff wouldn't have been that bad an idea - but then hindsight is always 20/20!!!!

I always thought that "nurse job" stuff was kind of a de facto pilot for a possible spinoff, really. Good call.
Thought the same thing about Horshack's episodes in the final season. You know darned well they were at least THINKING about it!

NO WAY would a Horshack spinoff had worked. If the spinoff was about Epstein or Washington, maybe, but a little bit of Horshack went a loooooooong way (all due respect to Mr. Ron Palillo!!).
